Sean Applebee hails from Colorado Springs, Colorado where he has spent the past ten years honing his craft as a musician.

 

Sean has experience in the styles of Jazz, Latin, Hip Hop, Funk, and Classical music. He is the bandleader of his own Latin Fusion Group, "Sean Applebee and Beyond" that performs around Colorado at venues such as Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom, Dazzle Jazz Club, and the Muse Performance Space. He has a prominent career as a freelance musician playing lead trumpet and jazz trumpet in a variety of big bands, funk bands, latin bands,  and jazz combos around Colorado. He also has experience as a studio musician having recorded on a wide variety of projects as a commercial trumpet player. He also recorded and released his own album titled "Beyond" with Sean Applebee and Beyond in 2023.

​Sean started his musical journey as a French horn player who learned the trumpet to play in his middle school's jazz band. 

​

He has studied the art of lead playing and improvisation from two of the world's most talented, creative, and in demand players: Brad Goode(Brad Goode Quintet, Paa Kow, Matt Dusk) and Greg Gisbert(Maria Schneider, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Buddy Rich )at the University of Colorado Boulder’s Thompson Jazz Studies Program where he earned his Bachelors of Music in Jazz Studies in Spring 2024. He has also had the privilege of studying with Nationally acclaimed trumpet players Brian Davis(Count Basie Orchestra), James Zollar(Duke Ellington Orchestra), Eric Benny Bloom(Lettuce), Alexis Baro(Michael Bublé). 

 

In addition to playing the trumpet, Sean has had the privilege of learning how to build them working at Harrelson trumpets with master craftsman and player, Jason Harrelson. Working with Jason, Sean learned how to design personalized solutions based on the needs of each individual to help them achieve their goals as a musician and in life.

Outside of music, Sean enjoys skiing, helping people heal with medical massage, training Kung Fu, Salsa Dancing, and traveling the world. 

 

Sean’s passion is helping his students become the best version of themselves through unlocking the potential that already exists within them to learn, adapt, and succeed.
